John Nyamande, the MDC-T legislator for Makoni Central has died in a mysterious accident that has left the entire MDC leadership shocked and devastated. He was 57.
Nyamande, a former MDC-UK interim chairman died in the early hours of today when his official twin cab he was driving hit an unidentified truck stationary in the middle of the highway along Rusape-Harare road in Ruwa, a family member has told The Zim Diaspora in the United Kingdom.
He died on the spot and was driving alone. The accident happened near Thorncroft school in Ruwa, it was reported.

Mrs Irene Sanyauke a close relative who is now comforting Mr Nyamande's widow in Britain, said the family was devastated by the news of Nyamande's mysterious death.
"As for now we only know that he hit a car which was stationary on the middle of the highway. He was coming from Rusape and the accident happened in Ruwa early today," said Mrs Sanyauke.
Current MDC-UK chairman Jonathan Chawora, said: "Its very sad, honourable Nyamande died in the early hours of this morning in Ruwa. We are yet to get details, so far thats the only information we have".
Nyamade will always be remembered for a bold decision he took in returning home at the height of political violence during the June election. When back home, he made a heroic decision to campaign for a parliamentary seat under the MDC-T ticket in which he stood against Mugabe's most trusted ally Patrick Chinamasa.
This was at a time when Zimbabwe was regarded as one of the most unstable and dangerous countries in the world.
During the violent campaign he beat-up Mugabe's foul mouthed Chinamasa who also happens to be his cousin.
There was violence when he arrived in Makoni to campaign and for so many occasions Nyamande was target of assasination. At one stage, during the height of ZANU-PF perpetrated violence, Nyamande escaped an assassination attempt.
Nyamande who has been based in the United Kingdom knew the risks of going back home and challenge Robert Mugabe.
After his stunning election as MP, Mr Nyamande returned to the UK where his family live and delivered talks about his experiences during election.
He spoke about the horrors of his election, the election of the Speaker of Parliament, the Power Sharing talks and the MDC vision.
It is sad day for Zimbabwean politics for having lost such a formidable politician of his calibre.

It is a shock and real sadness. Friends of the Nyamande family are all saddened about John's untimely death. the family has been robbed of their father, grandfather to some and above all the head of his family. My most sincere condolences go to the Nyamande family.
To all those in the regime change(not a western innitiative, fully home grown) struggle in zimbabwe, I say let this be the fire that fuels our determination in the journey we have ahead...we are dealing with one who's hardened heart is second only to the devil himself. it is therefore our fortune that we worship an awesome God who has proven over and over again to be deffence of his people by sending in leaders like Samson and Moses to liberate them from oppression...I don't know which bible you read that has a God who does not do politics...how can you have a King of Kings who does not do politics...all we do on this earth is sanctioned by his Governments in the most high...becareful if you wage a struggle for liberation from tyrony and do not call on the guidance and leadership of the most high your quest is lost... because you have no secret weapon...and in this struggle all foot soldiers should never fear when the road ahead looks dangerous and hopeless because we walk with an awesome God and we shall overcome...never stop calling on the lord for it is only through him that evil can truly be defeated ...and the Nyamande I know was a God fearing man who understood that there was a greater force than him that was guiding him through every battle he won againts the adversary we face today...I thank the lord that he achieved what he did in his time on earth...He worked with the UK province in times of hardship and steered the ship through the misty waters and went on to play his part in the most historical election since 1980...If the National heros acre was not a zanu pf burial society he would be deserving of a consideration for the accolade...many people are sitting in the comfort of the diaspora but he was brave and prepared to go and take on the peoples oppressor ...a great sense of duty and if we want to honor John's memory we should at least learn from his life what a strong sense of duty can achieve...if zimbabwe had at least 1000 more Nyamandes our country would be a better place.... rest in peace John may your legacy live forever in the hearts of the people that you gave up the comforts of the UK to liberate....Our adversary does not get rid of the weak soldiers he eliminates the true heros as they threaten his reign.

Once again the scourge of Zimbabwe’s roads has claimed the life of another gallant son of Zimbabwe, Comrade John Nyamande. He was a true revolutionary and a rock who helped in setting up MDC structures here in the UK. He was fearless and spoke often of the dangers of the situation in Zimbabwe. He is martyr to the struggle for freedom, social justice, democracy, equality and the restoration of the rule of law in our motherland.

Sorry John to die this young.
I remember John from MDC UK meetings. I also had a glance of him at Heathrow airport last year soon after the elections. At that time I thought he had seen enough and ran away from the circus.
Well, I respect his rare courage. Maidei opts to be keyboard activist.

I just want to thank everyone for their comments, it really means a lot to the family that we are in your thoughts. My dad was a dreamer, a visionary but what seperated him from other people was that he actually executed what he said he would.
I could write so much about him, but to be honest all I want to say is that as Zimbabweans lets not let his death be in vein. He died doing what he loved most, he touched so many people lives not just in his short life as a politician. I believe everything happens for a reason, whether he was killed or it actually was an accident, let this be a wake up call to all Zimbabweans.
How many more people have to die??? lets do something now, Please.

Just a point of clarification: Mbuya Nehanda is not worshipped by anyone. Mbuya Nehanda was a priestess of Umnkulumnkulu where the spirit of heaven would come and communicate with the blessed subjects, she was like any other priest Moses, Mirriam, Aaron, Deborah, Chaminuka and others.
Usually when the spirit of Umnkulumnkulu descends on earth and sit on a living mortal - a priest, we people we are overtaken by awe of heaven, we conduct ourselves with humility while listening to the voice of heaven during the moment of visitation but strictly we do not worship a priest but we hold him/her with reverence like any other spiritual unity - a shrine or the sanctified/offered bull.

I like your exuberance but feel pity for you miseducation. Why not try writing in a language that you are familiar with. Your grasp of the English lexicon is mediocre to be kind to you. Every posting of yours is full of spelling, grammartical and contextual mistakes. But then you only got as far as ''O'' Level and did not pass any subject. So sometimes i admire you for your courage to write and attempt to engage in intellectual discourse.

Even having spent the night comforting the Nyamande family, I still cant believe John is gone!!! Yes we never expect death but isnt this one too unexpected? Your braveness and courage will never be questioned, especially by us who were previleged to work with you at one point in your career. Mr Nyamande may your soul rest in peace and be with us as the struggle you started continue.

As someone who knows the son of John nyamande, I pray to God that for the sacrifice of John and many others, who died for liberty, equality and peace will not be in vain, but serve as a reminder to all that those with extreme courage faced their enemy in the determination of making a difference in the country they love.
