A Zimbabwean man in Dete, near Victoria Falls strangled his wife before trying to commit suicide when his wife refused to have unprotected sex with him. The incident occurred at the couple’s home on Friday night. Matabeleland North police spokesperson Sergeant Siphiwe Makonese confirmed the incident yesterday. "Yes I can confirm that a man murdered his wife following a domestic dispute. However, I am not in a position to say what caused the argument but investigations are underway to determine the cause," said Sgt Makonese. She identified the deceased as Mrs Constance Ncube and the accused as Mr Oliver Ncube (49) residing at House Number 269 Soweto Township. She said during the argument the husband strangled his wife and when he realised that he had killed her, he tried to commit suicide. "He tried to commit suicide by trying to slice open his throat with a knife," Sgt Makonese said. She said on the following morning a neighbour went to the couple’s home to visit Mrs Ncube. She knocked on the door but got no response. "Seeing that there was no response she went inside and went straight to the couple’s bedroom where she found the motionless woman and screamed for help, drawing the attention of other neighbours," said Sgt Makonese. She said a Neighbourhood Watch Committee member then spotted blood coming out of the bathroom door and went to investigate. "Upon opening the door he came across the accused lying on the floor in a pool of blood with a knife in his hand suggesting that he wanted to commit suicide," said Sgt Makonese. She said the accused who is in a critical condition was receiving treatment at Victoria Falls District Hospital under police guard. The body of the deceased was also taken to St Patricks Hospital enroute to Mpilo Central Hospital for a postmortem. Sgt Makonese appealed to couples to solve their problems amicably, noting that cases of domestic violence were rampant in the province. "As police we want to say that whenever couples have problems they should seek help from relatives, church leaders and members of the neighbourhood watch committees so that we do not continue to lose innocent lives." A neighbour who spoke on condition of anonymity through the phone said the couple had a misunderstanding over the use of condoms. "We were sleeping when we heard the couple exchanging harsh words over sexual intercourse," he said. "The woman was telling her husband that she was not in a position to have unprotected sex with him because he was seeing other women so she could not put her life at risk." Zimnewsonline

A survey on domestic violence has concluded that Shona men are less tolerant of a uncooperating, unloyal or unfaithful spouse than Ndebele men, so Maxwell you mean women should prefer the fire at 380 degress celcius in place of the pan at 100 degrees celcius perhaps?

I would wish to get a tip from your parents. You are a true Zimbabwean Shona I would love to share Zimbabwe with. One who tolerates no tribal hate.
