Zimbabwean beauty Josephine Marume, who recently married her childhood sweet heart in Britain’s Milton Keynes, is the best thing ever to happen to a man’s life, her proud husband, Mr Walter Mushambwe has exclusively revealed.

“She combines beauty with a good heart. She is also a strong Christian. I cannot put a price tag on her,” the soft spoken bridegroom said.

He was responding to a deluge of inquiries from The Zim Diaspora readers from around the world who, on viewing the wedding photos of the multiple award-winning beauty published last week demanded to know how much Mr Mushambwe had to pay to marry such a stunner.

Our readers believe that Josephine was one of those women too expensive to marry and, that Mr Mushambwe could have paid “too much” such that he was left bankrupt and frustrated.

Mr Mushambwe said Josephine was priceless and the head of eight cattle he paid as part of bride-price was insignificant in regard to the beauty, honesty and humane of his wife.

We are in love, we are in the process of building a beautiful home, the military man of Zimbabwean Shona origin said.

Mr Mushambwe said the head of eight cattle he paid as bride price was in line with the traditional Shona culture.

“I am not comfortable in disclosing to the media the actual figure that went with the head of eight cattle because payment is not a form of buying a wife but part of my cultural identity in marrying a woman,” he said.

“You cannot put a price tag on a woman. I am not going to disclose how much in terms of finance I paid alongside. I think that is a bit private, but I can tell you that materially, I paid a head of eight cattle,” he said proudly.

Mr Mushambwe who also revealed that he proposed marriage from Josephine in the presence of her mother, Fadzanai said paying lobola was just the beginning of a relationship in terms of joining the two families together.

Brimming with confidence, he sad: “I do get on well with my in-laws and it was a great thing to propose in front of my girlfriend’s mum”. Asked the reaction of his mum-law, Mr Mushambwe said: “She was thrilled. I could see her face glowing with excitement”.

Mr Mushambwe had advice on young couples intending to get married. “I believe the most important thing in any relationship is to love each other without any ill intentions. What has become a problem in many relationships is that young people go into relationships with ill-intentions”

“Such an attitude always creates friction and eventual leads to divorce. While it is recommendable that when people get married they have to combine their fortunes together, to me that is a secondary issue, the most important thing is love and happiness,” he added.

Mr Mushambwe who is devout Christian revealed that he first met Josephine in 1997 at St Mary’s high school, Wedza when he was he doing form one.

“Although we first met as school children, a relation only developed later which we subsequently upgraded into marriage in England,” he said.

Asked how many children the couple would like to have, he said: “I would like to have either one or two children. However, it will all depend on what the God decides for us, but certainly two would be enough for us”.

Josephine an avid reader of The Zim Diaspora has been crowned Miss Zimbabwe VW (2005) Miss Flame Lily UK (2007), second Run-up Miss Africa Caribbean, Birmingham (2007), Miss Tourism of the Millennium Zimbabwe (2007), Miss Friendship (2007) among others.
